Hubstone was formed in early 2005 following considerable time spent monitoring and analysing Open Source technologies. At this stage:

• Many Open Source products had reached a maturity level to be effective enterprise solutions
  
• We recognised the importance of a clear strategy for Open Source
• We understood the need for a framework within which organisations could adopt Open Source
• There were enough viable Open Source businesses and enough emerging technologies to support future business propositions
• Most organisations would need help to leverage what is there and to make the right choices going forwards.

Having spent years in enterprise IT environments using proprietary technologies, we understand the challenge this paradigm shift is for organisations.
